Software Engineer 5685

Tier4 Group is seeking a Software Engineer focused on document processing, automation, and high-volume PDF generation. This is a 6-month contract with strong potential to extend and possibly convert to full-time. 100% Remote ; candidates must reside in the Eastern or Central time zones.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain document automation systems using PHP and PDFLib
• Develop high-volume PDF generation and document delivery solutions
• Implement advanced PDF functionality, including font management, encoding, embedding, and rendering
• Integrate with AWS services, internal applications, and third-party APIs
• Develop automated data-processing and mailing workflow integrations
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver scalable solutions
• Troubleshoot, enhance, and support production applications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 4-6 years of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) development experience
• Strong experience with PDF generation, document automation, and PDFLib
• Experience supporting high-volume document processing environments
• AWS experience including S3, EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, and AWS SDK
• Experience with REST and/or SOAP APIs
• Strong knowledge of JSON, XML, fixed-width, delimited, and legacy data formats
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with document composition or CCM platforms (Quadient, Crawford Technologies, Adobe, iText, etc.)
• Print industry experience, including PDF, AFP, PostScript, or PCL
• Exposure to mail automation, postal optimization, or compliance-driven workflows
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale production systems
