About The Company TRUMPF is a family-run, high-tech enterprise renowned for its innovative solutions across multiple technological domains. With nearly 19,000 employees at 71 locations worldwide, TRUMPF is committed to pushing the boundaries of technology to create the unimaginable. The company’s core areas include lasers, machine tools, EUV technology, and electronics, all aimed at building technological worlds for future generations. The company culture emphasizes collaboration, mutual trust, and a willingness to challenge the status quo, fostering an environment where unconventional ideas and forward thinking are highly valued. TRUMPF’s dedication to innovation and excellence positions it as a leader in the high-tech industry, continuously inspiring people to develop groundbreaking solutions that shape the future.
About The Role We are seeking a talented Embedded Linux Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, integrating, and optimizing comprehensive software solutions spanning embedded applications, device drivers, backend services, APIs, frontends, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and diagnostic interfaces. Your expertise will contribute to building robust and efficient systems that meet the high standards of TRUMPF’s innovative environment. You will work on designing build, deployment, update, and configuration processes for Yocto- and Debian-based Linux platforms, ensuring smooth operation and continuous improvement. Additionally, you will develop and optimize image processing algorithms, build test and analysis tools, and maintain diagnostic and configuration utilities. Your role will also involve analyzing system errors during field testing and commissioning, troubleshooting issues related to hardware, software, and sensors, and implementing technical solutions directly on the system. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in a collaborative and innovative setting.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a completed degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or technical computer science, or have comparable qualifications with practical experience in developing integrated software systems. Strong proficiency in Linux and embedded Linux environments, especially with Yocto and Debian, is essential. You should have hands-on experience with build, deployment, and configuration processes, along with the ability to develop or integrate applications and device or interface drivers on Linux-based systems using C/C++. Additional scripting skills, particularly in Python, are advantageous. A solid understanding of hardware-near software, sensor technology, and complex system interactions is required. Candidates should demonstrate a structured, independent work style, practical problem-solving skills, and enthusiasm for rapid prototyping. Proficiency in German at level C1 is necessary to communicate effectively within the team. Knowledge of image processing is desirable, but a willingness to learn this field is acceptable. Good command of English is also beneficial for collaboration in our international environment.
