About the Role

Saalex is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Systems Developer & Data Analyst to join our team remotely in Ridgecrest, CA. This part-time position is designed to support the Aircrew Electronic Warfare Tactical Training Ranges Integrated Product Team by maintaining and enhancing internal operations and project management applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for automating workflows, developing data pipelines, and creating Power BI dashboards that provide valuable insights into training range activities. The role involves supporting a custom SharePoint Framework application built with TypeScript and React, utilizing SharePoint Lists as the operational data backend. This opportunity is ideal for an early-career professional or student with a passion for software development and data analytics, seeking to contribute to impactful defense projects while gaining valuable industry experience.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience developing custom web applications using TypeScript, JavaScript, and React
• Familiarity with SharePoint Framework development
• Experience creating reports and dashboards with Power BI
• Proficiency with Power Query/M for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)
• Ability to troubleshoot software issues and support application users
• Knowledge of maintaining source code repositories and technical documentation
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
• Eligibility to obtain a Secret security clearance (US Citizenship required)
• Currently pursuing or possess an associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field

Responsibilities

• Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot a custom SharePoint Framework web application developed with TypeScript and React
• Develop and update application features, custom user interface components, and supporting data structures
• Utilize SharePoint Lists as the operational data backend for application functionality and reporting
• Build and refine application modules supporting operational tracking, contract management, document routing, travel approvals, and schedule deconfliction
• Develop and maintain automated data pipelines, reporting models, and interactive dashboards using Power BI and Power Query/M
• Integrate multiple data sources into consolidated reports for program leadership
• Monitor automated data refresh processes and troubleshoot issues affecting data accuracy and availability
• Design and develop internal data visualization tools, including system architecture diagrams and data-flow visualizations
• Perform application administration activities such as managing permissions, processing access requests, and resolving user support issues
• Support application operations within secure Department of Defense IT environments, ensuring compliance with all security protocols and restrictions
• Evaluate and recommend development tools, libraries, and technical solutions to optimize application performance and maintainability
• Review existing code, data models, and workflows to identify opportunities for improvements and enhancements
• Implement incremental feature updates and resolve application issues independently
• Maintain organized, well-commented source code repositories and accurate technical documentation
• Communicate technical updates, data insights, and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support project success and operational needs
