Senior Artificial Intelligence (AI) Developer

Job Description

LeverageTek is actively seeking a Senior Artificial Intelligence (AI) Developer for a 1-year contract engagement with its Ottawa/Toronto-based customer.

Successful candidates will be expected to work EST time zone.

Key Tasks

Work with the AI Portfolio Lead, business owners and subject matter experts to assess prioritized AI and automation opportunities and recommend the simplest viable approach

Translate approved use cases into solution designs, user stories, acceptance criteria, technical specifications, integration requirements, estimates and delivery plans

Design, configure, develop, test and deploy secure agents, automations and low-code solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Microsoft 365 and Azure services

Build agent instructions, topics, actions, generative orchestration, knowledge connections and prompt patterns that produce grounded, traceable and appropriately constrained outputs

Develop and maintain Power Automate flows, Power Apps, Dataverse components, custom connectors, adaptive cards and API integrations with approved enterprise applications

Create and maintain automated tests, evaluation datasets and quality measures for answer accuracy, access denial, prompt-injection resistance, workflow reliability, performance and regression

Use source control and repeatable application lifecycle management practices to promote solutions across development, test and production environments

Monitor solution performance, failures, usage and consumption; investigate defects and incidents; tune solutions; and identify emerging risks

Prepare clear technical documentation, architecture decisions, runbooks, support procedures, test evidence and deployment records

Provide coaching and technical guidance to internal developers and makers; review code and designs; and help establish reusable patterns and development standards

Stay current on Microsoft AI, Power Platform and Azure capabilities and recommend adoption only where value, ownership, security, support and cost controls are confirmed

Key Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive software, integration, automation or solution-development experience, including demonstrated delivery of production solutions
• Hands-on experience designing and building solutions in Microsoft Copilot Studio and Power Platform, including Power Automate cloud flows, Power Fx, Dataverse, Power Apps, AI Builder and custom connectors
• Strong programming and integration skills using JavaScript or TypeScript and at least one of Python or C#, together with JSON, REST APIs, OAuth 2.0 and Microsoft Graph

Qualifications

• Experience integrating Microsoft 365 and Azure services, including SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Entra ID and Azure Functions, with sound knowledge of authentication, permissions and least-privilege access
• Experience with Git, GitHub, pull requests, automated testing, GitHub Actions, YAML, Power Platform CLI and solution-based application lifecycle management
• Demonstrated ability to build reliable automations using approvals, expressions, retries, pagination, idempotency, exception handling and operational logging
• Experience designing grounded AI solutions using approved knowledge sources, permission-aware retrieval, citations, abstention behaviour, evaluation datasets and regression testing
• Knowledge of privacy, records management, accessibility, responsible AI, data loss prevention and secure development practices
• Microsoft Power Platform Developer Associate certification (PL-400) or equivalent demonstrated capability
• Other relevant Microsoft applied skills or certifications in Copilot Studio, Azure AI, security or GitHub are assets
• French-language proficiency is an asset
• Degree or diploma in computer science, software engineering, information technology or a related discipline

Compensation

Hourly Rate Negotiable. This is an existing position vacancy.
