About the Role

SMX is seeking a Software Engineer – Front End Web Applications to help design, develop, support, and implement the Budget and Spend (BAS) solution. The role focuses on building and enhancing interactive planning, reporting, and analytics applications using SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Analytics Designer and other web technologies.

You will collaborate with the development team to deliver new features, improve existing functionality, and create responsive, efficient user interfaces. This is a fully remote position supporting a customer based in Washington, DC, and requires a Public Trust clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Build enterprise planning and reporting applications using SAP Analytics Cloud or web technologies such as JavaScript.
• Review application requirements and user interface designs.
• Develop and implement interactive UI/UX components for the BAS web application.
• Monitor and improve frontend performance, scalability, and application speed.
• Document application changes and development updates.
• Provide technical feedback on the feasibility of proposed UI/UX designs.
• Optimize web applications for performance and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and communicate effectively with team members.
• Contribute to the development of new features and enhancement of existing planning and analytics functionality.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least two years of software engineering experience working with frontend web technologies.
• Strong understanding of JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and related frontend technologies.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, including creating and consuming APIs.
• Experience working with data formats such as XML and JSON.
• Experience with object-oriented programming and design, web development, and debugging.
• Strong programming and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to obtain or maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• U.S. citizenship, as required to maintain the federal clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud.
• Experience working with federal, state, local government, or higher education organizations.
• Understanding of standard software development life cycle (SDLC), lean, and agile practices.

Salary and Benefits

• Proposed salary range: $73,000–$122,700 USD.
• Compensation is determined based on factors including geographic location, federal contract labor categories, relevant experience, skills, education, and certifications.
• Benefits include health insurance, paid leave, retirement benefits, and learning and development opportunities.

Location and Work Arrangement

• Work arrangement: Fully remote.
• Customer location: Washington, DC.
• Clearance requirement: Public Trust.
