About the Role

ClickUp is seeking a Senior AI Engineer – AI Platform to develop the core infrastructure behind its AI-powered features. This role combines AI platform engineering with hands-on application of large language models (LLMs) to solve user problems and support product innovation.

You will build scalable backend services, develop model-serving and evaluation infrastructure, and integrate multiple AI providers into ClickUp’s platform. Working with product, frontend, and data teams, you will help deliver secure, reliable, and cost-effective AI experiences while contributing to technical decisions across the AI platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement scalable AI platform services for deploying, orchestrating, and managing the lifecycle of LLMs and other AI models.
• Apply LLMs and AI technologies to develop and enhance intelligent features across ClickUp.
• Build and maintain APIs and backend systems that integrate AI capabilities into the core platform.
• Develop infrastructure for model serving, monitoring, logging, and automated evaluation of production AI services.
• Integrate multiple LLM providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, and implement model selection, routing, and fallback strategies.
• Establish and promote best practices for AI privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Implement secure data-handling practices, including data anonymization and appropriate privacy controls.
• Optimize AI platform performance, scalability, reliability, and operating costs using cloud-native technologies and distributed systems.
• Monitor developments in AI infrastructure, MLOps, and LLM applications and incorporate relevant improvements into the platform.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and data teams to deliver reliable, user-focused AI experiences.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing and building scalable AI/ML platforms or infrastructure in production environments.
• Demonstrated experience applying LLMs and AI models to real-world product features and user-facing applications.
• Strong backend engineering skills and expertise in distributed systems and cloud-native technologies.
• Experience with technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience integrating and managing multiple LLMs and AI models, including understanding their operational requirements and limitations.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, TypeScript, or similar programming languages used for backend and AI platform development.
• Experience with orchestration frameworks and workflow engines such as LangGraph, Airflow, Kubeflow, Ray, or comparable tools.
• Knowledge of MLOps practices, including model deployment, monitoring, logging, and automated evaluation.
• Experience addressing AI privacy and security challenges, including data anonymization and compliance with data protection regulations.
• Familiarity with search technologies and their integration into AI-powered applications.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across cross-functional teams.
• Interest in emerging AI infrastructure technologies and applying them to real-world problems at scale.
