About the Role

WSP is seeking a Mid to Senior-Level Web Developer to join its Visual Studios Interactive Department within Advanced Complimentary Services. This role combines design and programming to deliver engaging, high-impact interactive applications for desktop and mobile users.

You will manage the full web application lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through development, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance. Working closely with UX/UI designers, visualization specialists, technical teams, and clients, you will turn wireframes and mockups into responsive, scalable applications while contributing to technical quality, application security, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop modern web applications based on UI/UX wireframes, mockups, and functional requirements.
• Translate graphical designs into scalable, high-performance web applications.
• Optimize applications for responsiveness, performance, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Integrate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using appropriate APIs and SDKs.
• Apply cloud-first development practices and responsive design methodologies.
• Create and maintain source code repositories using Git in collaborative development environments.
• Work with designers, developers, project leads, project managers, and clients to deliver project requirements.
• Mentor team members through code reviews, technical guidance, feedback, and cross-training.
• Develop unit tests and conduct exploratory and guided testing.
• Identify and mitigate common web application vulnerabilities, including those covered by the OWASP Top 10.
• Debug, support, and maintain applications developed by you and other team members.
• Provide technical support to end users as needed.
• Maintain clear documentation and readable, appropriately commented code.
• Manage project scope, schedules, and priorities while meeting quality standards and deadlines.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• At least six years of directly related web development experience.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design principles.
• Experience supporting and maintaining production web applications used by end users.
• Hands-on experience integrating APIs programmatically, including Google Maps or other mapping platforms.
• Strong understanding of JavaScript and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON).
• Experience creating interactive features and motion that encourage user engagement.
• Experience mentoring and cross-training team members, including conducting code reviews.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
• Experience using Git in a collaborative, multi-developer environment.
• Understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
• Ability to document technical solutions and communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work professionally with clients, colleagues, managers, and other stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Adaptability, a collaborative approach, and willingness to learn evolving technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least two years of experience with Vue.js or similar front-end frameworks.
• Experience with Quasar or other UI libraries and frameworks.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP), common design patterns, and data structures.
• Experience creating SVG animations and interactive behaviors.
• Experience with Azure Cosmos DB or relational databases.
• Contributions to open-source projects or an active GitHub portfolio.
• Working knowledge of web accessibility standards, including WCAG and Section 508.
• Experience with WordPress or other popular content management systems (CMS).
• Interest in taking ownership of complex technical challenges and troubleshooting them through resolution.
