We’re an established and growing engineering and design firm supporting major electric and telecom utilities across the country. We’re adding experienced designers to our power distribution team to support overhead make-ready and joint-use programs. If you know overhead utility pole design and want to grow with a team that focuses entirely on utility engineering, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Design overhead make-ready and joint-use projects, from field data to construction-ready packages
- Review field and walkout data, pole conditions, and existing attachments
- Apply NESC clearance requirements and utility construction standards
- Perform or review pole loading analysis and identify needed modifications
- Design pole replacements, transfers, attachment changes, guying, and anchoring
- Handle permitting, easement, pole ownership, and right-of-way research
- Work with project teams to resolve design conflicts and constructability issues
- Support QC reviews so every deliverable goes out accurate and complete
What You Bring
- 2+ years of make-ready, joint-use, or overhead power distribution design experience (3+ preferred)
- Hands-on experience with utility pole design, NESC clearances, and pole loading
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation
- Experience with Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, DDS, SPIDAcalc, or GIS is a big plus
- Associate’s degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or a related field preferred, but not required
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background, drug, and MVR screening
- Ability to work Eastern Time business hours (we can adjust for other time zones)
- Open to occasional travel
Candidates without utility pole, make-ready, joint-use, or distribution design experience will not be considered. What We Offer
- Base salary up to $90,000, depending on experience
- Fully remote, with a paid in-person onboarding at our headquarters
- Company-provided laptop, dual monitors, and design software licenses
- Medical, dental, and vision, including a no-cost plan option
- Life and disability insurance
- 401(k) with 3% company match
- Paid holidays, Generous PTO, and sick time
- Paid parental leave
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Paid training on industry design platforms
- Clear career path from Designer to Senior Designer, Lead, and Project Management
- Education and professional licensing assistance
