Director, AI Engineering (Remote - eligible)

For our client, we are seeking a Director, AI Engineering (Remote - eligible) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This leader will guide the technical direction for AI engineering efforts that support scalable products and business outcomes across the organization. The role will partner closely with cross-functional teams to shape strategy, make thoughtful build-versus-buy decisions, and translate AI vision into executable plans. It will also help drive the design, deployment, and optimization of AI solutions while building and developing a high-performing engineering team.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $244,700 – $279,200 annually

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Oversee the design and deployment of AI software components.
• Make strategic build-vs-buy decisions for AI technologies.
• Introduce optimization techniques for large-scale AI systems.
• Contribute to the technical vision and roadmap for AI systems.
• Attract and develop top AI talent while fostering a learning culture.
• Translate AI strategy into actionable plans across product areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with relevant experience in AI/ML development.
• 8+ years of experience in AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or 6+ years with a Master’s degree.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams.
• 5+ years managing an engineering team preferred.
• 7+ years deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms.
