About the Opportunity:

The MEDICAL BILLING CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST is responsible for managing patient medical billing inquiries, acting as the primary liaison among patients, insurance companies, and internal departments. This role supports revenue cycle management by resolving billing issues, verifying patient information, and enhancing patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

• Assist clinics, referring doctors, attorneys, insurance companies, and patients with medical billing questions
• Research explanation of benefits and denials to clarify patient balances
• Respond timely to texts, emails, and mail regarding billing accounts and route inquiries as necessary
• Escalate complex issues to Senior Customer Service Specialist
• Communicate with various revenue cycle management departments
• Meet or exceed quality assurance standards
• Email itemized statements and request letters of protection from attorneys
• Update billing system with patient demographic information
• Contact referring doctors, patients, insurance companies, and attorneys for updated insurance or demographic data
• Investigate inaccurate adjustments, duplicate charges, reversed collection decisions, and insurance denials
• Perform other assigned duties

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of customer service experience
• Preferred: medical billing experience, associate degree, bilingual in Spanish or other languages

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• The pay range for this position is $20 to $26.39 per hour, based on direct and relevant experience.
