Sr Azure Data Engineer

Overview

Deep expertise in Azure Data Engineering, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, and Power BI to design, build, modernize, integrate, and support enterprise data integration, ETL/ELT, semantic modeling, and analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support enterprise data integration solutions using Azure Data Factory.

• Build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, validation, and publishing across Dynamics 365, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, data warehouses, APIs, and external systems.

• Develop reusable, metadata-driven pipelines aligned with enterprise engineering standards.

• Design and optimize Azure SQL databases, data models, stored procedures, views, indexes, and query performance.

• Implement data validation, reconciliation, exception handling, monitoring, incremental loads, CDC, orchestration, scheduling, and dependency management.

• Develop and maintain Power BI datasets, semantic models, dashboards, scorecards, and reports.

• Design star schemas, dimensional models, and reporting data marts optimized for Power BI.

Experience Requirements

• 8+ years of enterprise software engineering experience, including 5+ years in Azure Data Engineering.

• 5+ years of hands-on Azure Data Factory development.

• Strong experience with enterprise ETL/ELT solutions using Azure cloud services.

• Experience delivering enterprise reporting solutions with Power BI.

• Experience integrating Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations preferred, ERP systems, databases, APIs, and enterprise applications.

Technical Expertise

• Expert-level ADF skills: pipelines, mapping data flows, triggers, linked services, datasets, integration runtimes, parameterization, reusable frameworks, and monitoring.

• Strong Azure SQL, T-SQL, stored procedures, views, indexing, performance tuning, and query optimization experience.

• Experience with ADLS Gen2, data ingestion, and transformation.

Strong understanding of ETL/ELT architecture, integration patterns, orchestration, scheduling, automation, and metadata-driven frameworks.

• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, XML, CSV, and flat file integrations.

• Proficiency with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD, source control, and release management.

• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, alerting, pipeline monitoring, and production support.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and Azure security best practices.

• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization skills.
