Durpal Developer

This Drupal Full Stack Developer role is a 6+ Month Contract with a client located in Chicago, IL/100% Remote .

Pay Range: $70/hr. - $80/hr. The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Drupal development and Acquia Cloud to support the upgrade, maintenance, and enhancement of existing web applications. The current Drupal/Acquia environment is approaching its end-of-life/end-of-support (EOL/EOS) in December, requiring platform upgrades, code modifications, compatibility fixes, and comprehensive testing. The contractor will work closely with the existing engineering team while helping build internal Drupal expertise through knowledge transfer.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, enhance, and support existing Drupal-based websites and web applications hosted on Acquia Cloud.
• Plan and execute Drupal and Acquia environment upgrades to address upcoming EOL/EOS requirements.
• Analyze existing code and implement necessary modifications to ensure compatibility with upgraded platforms and dependencies.
• Develop, customize, and troubleshoot Drupal modules, themes, and third-party integrations.
• Identify and resolve application issues, performance bottlenecks, and compatibility challenges.
• Perform unit, integration, and regression testing to ensure application quality and stability.
• Support application deployments, environment configuration, and troubleshooting across development, testing, and production environments.
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful and timely delivery.
• Document technical changes, upgrade procedures, and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to the internal team as they develop Drupal skills.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Drupal development, maintenance, and upgrades.
• Practical experience working with Acquia Cloud environments.
• Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience with Drupal modules, themes, custom development, and third-party integrations.
• Familiarity with Composer, Drush, and Drupal configuration management.
• Experience with code debugging, application testing, version control systems such as Git, and deployment processes.
• Understanding of web application security, performance optimization, and software development best practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
