Senior Design Systems Designer (Figma)

Location: 100% Remote (US-based, Eastern Time core hours)

Employment Type: Full-Time W2 Contract | 40 hours/week

Duration: 5–6+ months

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a talented, detail-oriented Senior Design Systems Designer to support a large-scale digital experience initiative for a leading hospitality organization.

This role will focus on enhancing and documenting an established design system as hotel websites and associated digital experiences transition to a new content management platform.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on designer who thrives in Figma, enjoys solving complex component-level challenges, and knows how to translate design decisions into clear, comprehensive specifications that engineering teams can confidently build from.

This is a highly collaborative, execution-focused role with an emphasis on component craftsmanship, accessibility, responsive design, and engineering handoff.

What You’ll Do

  • Audit and refine existing design system components, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, duplication, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Design and document reusable UI components in Figma, including component anatomy, layout, spacing, typography, design tokens, and variants.
  • Define responsive behavior across mobile, tablet, and desktop experiences.
  • Create comprehensive component specifications covering interaction states, including hover, focus, active, disabled, loading, empty, and error states.
  • Design and refine transactional components supporting search, date selection, availability, booking, and reservation experiences.
  • Document validation patterns, error handling, fallback states, and recovery experiences.
  • Ensure consistency across multiple websites, brands, and digital touchpoints.
  • Apply accessibility best practices aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA, including keyboard navigation, focus management, color contrast, and accessible form interactions.
  • Partner closely with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to clarify component behavior and resolve design specification questions.
  • Prepare detailed, development-ready design documentation and handoff materials using Figma, Confluence, and Jira.
  • Support component versioning, documentation updates, and knowledge transfer to internal design teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong professional experience in UX/UI, Product Design, or Design Systems Design, with significant hands-on component design experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma , including auto layout, variants, component properties, reusable libraries, and design tokens.
  • Demonstrated experience working within and extending established design systems.
  • Strong ability to create detailed component specifications and engineering handoff documentation.
  • Experience defining responsive layouts, interaction patterns, component states, and complex UI behaviors.
  • Practical knowledge of accessibility standards, particularly WCAG 2.1 AA .
  • Experience collaborating directly with engineering teams to support accurate design implementation.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation quality.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deliverables in a remote, collaborative environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing booking, reservation, checkout, e-commerce, or other complex transactional experiences.
  • Experience supporting multi-brand websites or enterprise-scale design systems.
  • Familiarity with CMS-driven websites and component-based content platforms.
  • Exposure to Angular-based component libraries.
  • Experience maintaining backward compatibility as design system components evolve.

Portfolio Requirements

A portfolio demonstrating detailed design system and component work is required.

We’re especially interested in seeing examples that showcase:

  • Reusable components designed and documented in Figma.
  • Detailed component specifications and engineering handoff materials.
  • Responsive behaviors, variants, and interaction states.
  • Accessibility considerations and annotations.
  • Collaboration with engineering from component design through handoff.

Why This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to contribute to a high-visibility digital transformation initiative for a globally recognized hospitality organization. You’ll work closely with design and engineering partners, helping deliver consistent, accessible, and scalable digital experiences across multiple web…
