Senior User Interface Designer

Company Description Superfan.ng is an edtech learning platform focused on African languages and cultures, serving learners across the continent and the diaspora. The platform uses a gamified, quiz-first experience to deepen knowledge of African proverbs, traditions, rites of passage, festivals, folklore, and customs. By blending education and entertainment, Superfan.ng aims to make learning culturally rich content engaging and accessible. Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Senior User Interface Designer at Superfan.ng. The Senior UI Designer will lead the creation of intuitive, visually compelling interfaces for our web and mobile products, translating product requirements into polished designs and interactive prototypes. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with product managers and engineers, defining design systems, producing high-fidelity mockups, and ensuring consistency across all user touchpoints. The role also involves conducting and incorporating UX insights, iterating based on user feedback and data, and maintaining a cohesive visual language that aligns with the brand and the cultural focus of the platform. The Senior UI Designer will mentor other designers, contribute to design best practices, and help drive a user-centered design process across the organization.

Qualifications

• Strong User Interface Design and Visual Design skills, with a portfolio demonstrating modern, accessible, and engaging interfaces.
• Experience creating detailed Mockups and interactive prototypes using industry-standard tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
• Solid understanding of User Experience (UX) principles, including information architecture, interaction design, and usability best practices.
• Basic to intermediate Front-End Development knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to collaborate effectively with engineering and ensure design feasibility.
• Relevant experience designing consumer-facing digital products, preferably in edtech, gaming, or culturally focused platforms.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple projects, and collaborate across time zones.
• Strong communication and documentation skills, including the ability to present and justify design decisions to diverse stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with African cultures and languages, or a strong interest in learning about them, is a plus.
