Principal Software Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Define multi-year architecture for governed data consumption layers, APIs, semantic models, and enterprise data products.
• Design and evolve scalable backend services and microservices supporting high-volume marketplace and direct-to-consumer data use cases.
• Drive simplification, unification, migration, and retirement of legacy data products across multiple engineering teams.
• Establish engineering standards for reliability, security, observability, testing, and performance across organizational repositories.
• Partner with Platform, Security, Governance, BI Experience, and senior engineering leadership to shape enterprise technology strategy.

Skills Required:

• 12 - 17 years of software and data engineering experience, including senior or principal-level individual contributor responsibility.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Scala, Java, and Python for backend and data engineering systems.
• Proven experience designing microservices and enterprise backend platforms using Spring Boot.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, data modeling, API design, and scalable data architectures.
• Experience building data engineering solutions and enterprise consumption layers for large-scale data environments.

Good to Have:

• Experience architecting and operating cloud-based data platforms on AWS.

Education: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
