VoIP Systems Design Engineer

Position: VoIP Systems Engineer

Openings:

• Frederick, MD (Can site Remote as long as within an hour of a major airport)
• Will have travel associated for training and site surveys up to 50%

Duration: 12 month contract (with extensions or conversion)

Pay Range: $43-73/hr

Must Haves:

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or relevant experience
• Understanding of Networking (CCNA Preferred)
• 4+ years of experience designing network infrastructure hardware systems for critical infrastructure customers (VoIP, On-Premises, etc.)
• Experience with requirement management processes and tools (JIRA, DOORS, Cameo, etc)
• Proficiency in Excel (including scripting) and Visio
• Technical writing experience
• Flexibility and a strong ability to learn quickly

Responsibilities:

• Insight Global is seeking to hire a System Engineer to regionally, supporting a large technology systems company. This role is supporting a large FAA program focused on modernizing voice communication systems within Air Traffic Control. Responsibilities include:
• Assist the design, integration and deployment of voice communication systems/subsystems for ATC projects
• Create and maintain technical documentation according to customer requirements
• Translate customer needs into requirements
• Prepare regular reports on project status

The Systems Design Engineers we are looking for will be primarily responsible for interpreting the site survey data and create the majority of the SCD documentation, which is detailed design oriented . For them the key points below were deemed as good fit by the project Chief Architect:

• Foundational network knowledge (CCNA-level is sufficient; having held previously at least)
• Familiarity with physical system installation, including the ability to read cable diagrams, patch panel layouts, and basic network designs, as well as calculate equipment power budgets
• Proficiency in Excel (including scripting) and Visio; experience with XMind is a plus, though it can be picked up quickly
• Experience with customer interaction and working through design quality gate
