Job Description
About the Company
Gadriel is an AI System Assurance company focused on validating AI-generated code, AI system behavior, and the environments in which AI systems operate before release. The company aims to help teams verify the reliability of AI systems before deploying them into production. Its founders bring 25 years of enterprise cybersecurity experience and hold three USPTO patents.
About the Role
Gadriel is hiring a Backend Engineer to build the core validation engines and services behind its products. The role focuses on deterministic, reproducible validation, ensuring that the same input produces the same result consistently. You’ll work on backend systems that help verify AI-generated code and system behavior, building reliable services and pipelines that operate across local environments, CI/CD workflows, and customer infrastructure.
Working directly with the founders, you’ll contribute to architectural decisions, take ownership of services from design through production, and help shape the technical direction of the company’s validation platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services and analysis engines to validate AI-generated code and AI system behavior.
- Implement mathematically grounded, reproducible validation techniques rather than relying on LLM-based judging.
- Build high-throughput, reliable pipelines that run locally, within CI/CD systems, and in customer environments.
- Integrate validation services with AI coding tools, agent frameworks, and enterprise systems.
- Own backend services throughout the development lifecycle, from initial design and implementation to production deployment and ongoing improvement.
- Work directly with the founders to shape system architecture and technical decisions.
- Measure system performance, troubleshoot issues, and deliver fixes to maintain reliability and quality.
- Review and reason about existing code to understand system behavior and support effective development.
Required Qualifications
- Strong backend engineering experience in at least one of the following languages: Python, Go, or C++.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, concurrency, performance optimization, and software testing.
- Working knowledge of AI concepts, including large language models (LLMs), AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and embeddings.
- Understanding of common AI system failure modes and the challenges involved in validating AI-generated outputs and behavior.
- Ability to read, understand, and analyze code written by others.
- A strong sense of ownership, with the ability to deliver software, measure results, and resolve issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with static analysis, security tooling, or developer tools.
- Familiarity with agent protocols such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Background in applied mathematics, statistics, or information theory.
- Experience working in a startup or early-stage company.
Location and Work Arrangement
Fully remote.
Compensation and Equity
Compensation and equity are offered; the specific salary range and equity details have not been provided.
