Software Engineer

About the role

We’re hiring a Software Engineer with 1–3 years of experience to build and maintain our Java / Spring Boot backend platform. You’ll design APIs, build integrations and work on high-impact business workflows, and you’ll also contribute to our React-based internal admin portal. Working React knowledge is a strong plus.

Primary focus: ~80% backend (Java / Spring Boot), ~20% frontend (React)

What you’ll do

Backend

• Design, build and maintain REST APIs in Java 11+ and Spring Boot within a multi-module Maven codebase.
• Implement core business logic with clean, well-tested code.
• Build and maintain integrations with third-party APIs (REST, OAuth, webhooks).
• Model data in PostgreSQL with JPA/Hibernate and ship schema changes through versioned migrations.
• Build async and event-driven flows using Kafka, scheduled jobs and Redis (caching, distributed locks).
• Write unit and integration tests (JUnit, Mockito) and keep code passing static analysis checks.
• Debug production issues using logs and metrics, and fix root causes.
• Take part in code reviews and follow team engineering standards.

Frontend (React)

• Build and update admin portal screens, forms and data grids that call the APIs you build.
• Wire frontend changes end to end: API contract, UI, validation and error states.

Team

• Work with product, QA and support to turn requirements into shippable changes.
• Own features through dev, QA and staging to production release.

Must have

• 1–3 years of professional backend development in Java (Java 11+).
• Hands-on Spring Boot: REST controllers, dependency injection, Spring Data JPA, exception handling, configuration profiles.
• Solid SQL and relational modeling, preferably PostgreSQL: joins, indexes, transactions, query tuning basics.
• Working knowledge of Hibernate/JPA, including lazy loading and the N+1 problem.
• Experience writing unit tests with JUnit and Mockito.
• Comfort with Maven, Git and a PR-based workflow.
• Understanding of REST API design, HTTP status codes, auth basics (JWT/OAuth) and JSON.
• Core CS fundamentals: data structures, OOP, collections, multithreading basics.
• Clear written communication and ownership of tasks end to end.

Good to have

Frontend

• React 18 with TypeScript: functional components, hooks, props and state.
• Material UI (MUI), including Data Grid and date pickers.
• Calling REST APIs with Axios and handling loading and error states.
• React Router and a state library (Easy Peasy, Redux or similar).
• Testing with Jest and React Testing Library.

Backend and platform

• Kafka producers/consumers, Redis caching or distributed locks.
• Liquibase or Flyway schema migrations.
• Quartz or other job schedulers; actor-based concurrency (Akka).
• Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins CI/CD.
• Experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) in daily work.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech/MCA in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1–3 years building production backend systems.
