Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Mobile Software Engineer to help train next-generation AI systems through challenging, realistic mobile software engineering tasks. In this contract role, you will design reinforcement learning environments that evaluate how AI models solve complex mobile development problems, including debugging, feature implementation, code refactoring, and performance optimization.
You will create reproducible testing environments, develop deterministic verification methods, and provide reference solutions that demonstrate correct implementations. This role is suited to experienced iOS or Android engineers who can design demanding technical problems and assess solutions against clear, reliable criteria.
Key Responsibilities
- Create realistic, challenging mobile development tasks using repositories of your choice to evaluate advanced AI models.
- Design problems involving complex debugging, non-trivial feature development, application state management, lifecycle handling, and performance optimization.
- Define each task clearly and build a reproducible environment for evaluating potential solutions.
- Develop deterministic verifiers that accept correct solutions across different valid implementations while rejecting incorrect, incomplete, or hard-coded approaches.
- Create reference solutions demonstrating how each problem can be solved effectively.
- Ensure tasks reflect practical mobile engineering challenges and provide meaningful assessments of AI model capabilities.
- Meet project submission requirements and deliver tasks that satisfy the specified quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Significant hands-on experience in at least one of the following mobile development areas:
- iOS development using Swift with SwiftUI or UIKit.
-
Android development using Kotlin with Jetpack Compose or the Android View system.
- Deep understanding of mobile application architecture, state management, asynchronous programming, and application lifecycle.
- Proven ability to debug complex mobile applications, resolve software defects, and improve application performance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop reproducible technical challenges with clear expected outcomes.
Location and Work Arrangement
Fully remote. The position is open to candidates based in 55 eligible countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, India, France, the Netherlands, and Singapore.
Employment Type and Commitment
Contractor position with an expected commitment of approximately 15 hours per week.
Compensation
Advertised pay range: $50–$100 per hour.
Compensation is output-based, with payment for each task that meets project specifications. Actual time requirements may vary depending on experience and workflow. Minimum weekly submission requirements will be communicated during onboarding.
Start Timeline and Availability
The hiring process typically takes around 48 hours to fill positions. Selected candidates are expected to begin their first tasks within 24–48 hours after completing onboarding.
