Sr UX/UI Designer, Next-Gen In-Car Experience

**Location: On-site, Torrance, CA / On-site every day** Overview Honda is redefining the future of driving—and we’re seeking a **Senior UX/UI Designer** to help lead that vision. This role blends creative direction and hands-on design execution for **next-generation in-car digital interfaces** , creating emotionally engaging, intuitive, and brand-defining user experiences for millions of drivers worldwide.

As the **Creative Director for UI/UX in spirit** , you’ll think holistically about the human experience inside the vehicle. You’ll lead strategic design conversations, interpret consumer behavior, leverage driver research, and work closely with both our Torrance-based and global R&D teams in Japan.

We’re looking for a hybrid talent: visionary strategist and master craftsperson. You’ll lead ideation, wireframe prototypes, and pixel-perfect execution—all while infusing innovation into our HMI design systems and component libraries.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a thought leader for UX/UI design strategy on next-gen infotainment and HMI systems
• Translate driver insights and behavioral data into intuitive design concepts
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Industrial Design teams in Torrance and Japan
• Design clean, modern interfaces that balance Honda brand values with futuristic expression
• Build and maintain scalable design systems and component libraries
• Prototype interactions and micro-animations using tools like Protopie to communicate intent clearly
• Create high-fidelity visuals and interface mockups that elevate the in-vehicle experience
• Present and advocate for your design vision across multidisciplinary teams and senior leadership
• Ensure designs meet usability, accessibility, and safety standards in automotive environments

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of experience in UX/UI, interaction design, or visual design
• Proven track record designing complex, multi-modal experiences for consumers - Automotive UX/HMI experience a plus
• A distinctive visual design style backed by a polished, compelling portfolio
• Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
• Mastery of Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Protopie (or similar prototyping tools)
• Experience designing for touch, gesture, voice, and multi-screen environments
• Deep understanding of design for motion, transitions, and spatial interfaces
• Exceptional communication, storytelling, and collaboration skills
• Willingness and enthusiasm to work on-site daily in Torrance, CA
• Cultural fluency and ability to collaborate with international teams (especially Japan)
