Job Description

Position Type:  Remote

Contract Duration: 6 months

Overview Seeking an experienced AWS Application/Data Platform Developer to support, maintain, and enhance an enterprise AWS data environment supporting international sales, manufacturing, and product development data. The developer will inherit and maintain an existing AWS stack originally developed and operated by an international team. The primary responsibility will be to keep the environment stable, operational, and responsive to business needs while documenting and understanding the existing architecture. Over time, the AWS environment is expected to be unwound and migrated into a U.S.-based technology model consisting of a greater mix of Azure and on-premises technologies.

Duties

  • Maintain and support an existing enterprise AWS data and application environment, ensuring continued availability and reliability.

  • Support AWS services including Glue, Lake Formation, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, SageMaker Studio, Lambda, Athena, RDS, Airflow, and S3.
  • Troubleshoot application, data, integration, and infrastructure-related issues across the AWS environment.
  • Analyze existing architecture and code to understand how the inherited environment operates and identify dependencies between components.
  • Work with international sales, manufacturing, and product development data within the existing AWS data hub.
  • Leverage existing technical documentation, including Confluence-based data hub documentation, to understand the current environment and support model.
  • Develop and maintain Python and SQL code supporting applications, data processing, integrations, and automation.
  • Design, develop, test, debug, and implement software solutions using established software engineering practices.
  • Support application integration across business systems and data sources.
  • Maintain and enhance existing programming architectures, standards, procedures, and reusable components.
  • Research emerging technologies and evaluate potential applications to business requirements.
  • Assist with the eventual transition and unwinding of the AWS environment as functionality is migrated into the organization’s U.S. technology model.
  • Collaborate with the BI Developer and Architect on technical issues, enhancements, troubleshooting, and ongoing platform support.

Required Skills

  • Strong hands-on Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience is required.
  • Proven production support and break/fix troubleshooting experience in enterprise application or cloud environments.
