Software Architect & Engineering Lead (AI-Driven Data Platform) Compensation up to $180,000 based on skills and experience

Fully remote, we are based in the Virginia, Maryland area, candidates that are close to those areas that can meet up from time to time are highly preferred.

We are seeking a Software Architect & Engineering Lead to define system architecture, lead technical delivery, and drive an AI-first engineering model. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced engineer who combines deep technical expertise with the ability to manage delivery through AI-assisted development practices.

Responsibilities:

• Own architecture across web applications, backend services, data platforms, integrations, and mobile contracts.

• Lead engineering delivery using AI agents and modern software development practices.

• Define technical standards, architecture decisions, CI/CD processes, and quality gates.

• Review and approve agent-generated code before production deployment.

• Drive security, scalability, performance, and maintainability across the platform.

• Create clear requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation for engineering teams and AI agents.

• Mentor engineers and help evolve AI-assisted software delivery practices.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience designing, building, deploying, and operating production software systems.

• Strong full-stack expertise with:

—TypeScript, React, Next.js

—Python, FastAPI

—PostgreSQL

—APIs, cloud architecture, CI/CD, and observability

• Experience with modern software architecture, security, authentication, multi-tenant systems, and database design.

• Strong understanding of code quality, testing automation, and DevOps practices.

• Experience leading technical decision-making, architecture reviews, and development teams.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, LLM applications, agent workflows, and prompt-driven engineering.

Pluses:

• Technical leadership experience as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Founding Engineer.

• Experience with Azure or other major cloud platforms.

• Knowledge of AI orchestration frameworks, vector databases, and retrieval systems.

• Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2.

• Strong technical writing and architectural documentation skills.
