Database Architect & Engineer - AI-Driven Data Platform Compensation up to $180,000 based on skills and experience

Fully remote, we are based in the Virginia, Maryland area, candidates that are close to those areas that can meet up from time to time are highly preferred.

We are seeking a Database Architect & Engineer to design, build, and own the data foundation powering an innovative AI platform . This role is for an experienced data professional who can architect enterprise-scale data models, build production-grade pipelines, and ensure data quality, governance, and traceability.

This is a hands-on leadership role on an AI-Driven Data Platform . We are a startup within a corporation so you must be comfortable in a startup type of environment. Entrepreneurial spirit, ready to roll up your sleeves and own your role.  As we grow, you grow!

Responsibilities:

• Own the enterprise data architecture, including data models, warehouses, integrations, and governed data services.

• Design and manage data platforms using Snowflake, PostgreSQL, SQL, and Python.

• Build scalable ELT pipelines and integrations with CRM, financial, document, and third-party data sources.

• Establish data governance, quality controls, lineage, and security standards.

• Design data structures optimized for AI applications, analytics, search, and retrieval.

• Partner closely with software architecture and engineering teams to define shared data contracts.

• Lead AI-assisted data delivery practices and review agent-generated data solutions.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience designing and operating enterprise data platforms in production.

Strong expertise in:

• Data Modeling & Data Architecture

• Snowflake & PostgreSQL

• SQL and Python

• ETL/ELT Pipelines

• Data Governance & Data Quality

• API & System Integrations

• Experience building scalable analytical and operational data solutions.

• Strong understanding of security, access controls, lineage, and compliance.

• Ability to balance strategic architecture with hands-on engineering execution.

Pluses:

• Experience with financial, investment, private equity, or corporate finance data.

• Familiarity with document extraction, AI/LLM applications, RAG, or vector search technologies.

• Experience with dbt, Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or similar tools.

• Knowledge of SOC 2 or other compliance frameworks.

• Strong technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
