Job Description
Head of Product (AI Platform)
Remote (US) Full-time or flexible arrangement consideredSalary: $150,000 – $200,000 per annum
Experience: Previous CTO, VP of Product or Head of Product
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Head of Product to take ownership of an AI-powered platform at a boutique fintech business that supports banks and credit unions.
This is a product leadership role rather than a hands-on engineering role, ideal for someone who understands how LLMs work in practice, enjoys getting close to the people who use the product every day, and can turn real business workflows into clear requirements for an engineering team.
The platform has already been built to a high technical standard, with strong architecture and excellent documentation. You will define what gets built next, direct the engineers who build it, and make sure it delivers real commercial value to the business.
Working closely with the internal subject matter experts, leadership, partner banks and investors, you will act as the bridge between the business and the build, while also owning the platform’s cloud infrastructure, data, security and vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities of the Head of Product:
- Work directly with the internal team to translate their workflows into clear specifications, requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Own and manage the product backlog, keeping a clear line from business requirements to what gets built, with written records whenever scope changes.
- Establish structured user acceptance testing, including defect tracking and Beta/UAT rounds.
- Define and measure AI accuracy benchmarks, including extraction accuracy, hallucination management and where human review is required.
- Own the post-launch AI governance roadmap and safeguards.
- Hire, manage and direct internal engineers and external contractors, including teams using AI-assisted coding tools.
- Maintain strong engineering processes, including design reviews, decision logs, automated testing and staged deployment pipelines.
- Own the company’s core proprietary data asset, including how it is built, extended and kept accurate, and manage data-tagging vendor relationships.
- Manage the Azure environment, including Azure OpenAI usage, capacity, costs and access governance.
- Prepare the platform for bank vendor due diligence, including SOC 2, penetration testing, security policies and vendor questionnaires.
- Build out operational support, including QA, incident response and escalation processes.
- Clearly communicate technical risks, trade-offs and the value of the platform to leadership, partner banks and investors.
Essential Requirements of the Head of Product:
- Previous experience as a CTO, VP of Product or Head of Product at an early-stage B2B SaaS company, ideally with AI features in production.
- A solid, practical understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations.
- Experience leading engineering teams and contractors through the full product lifecycle.
- Background in financial services, ideally working with banks or credit unions, or experience in contract analysis or vendor negotiation.
- Exceptional ability to explain technical concepts in clear business terms to non-technical stakeholders.
The team are offering a salary of $150,000 – $200,000, with the role fully remote within the US.
Both full-time and flexible working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.
If you have led AI product development in financial services and enjoy turning complex business workflows into products that genuinely work for the people using them, we would love to hear from you.
