Job Description

Investment Associate / Manager

Lower Mid-Market Private Credit Fund

Attractive salary, bonus and carried interest

London

WW16881

The Opportunity:

Finatal is working with a specialist lower mid-market private credit investor seeking to appoint an Investment Associate / Manager to its London team. The firm provides flexible capital solutions to established UK businesses, partnering closely with founders and management teams to support growth, strategic development and long-term value creation.

This is a broad, hands-on investment role offering meaningful exposure across origination, transaction execution and portfolio management. The successful candidate will work directly with senior members of the team, take ownership of key deal workstreams and build significant responsibility across the full investment lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate new investment opportunities through market research, adviser relationships and direct origination activity
  • Assess business models, sectors and management teams, helping to develop clear and differentiated investment theses
  • Build and take ownership of detailed financial models, valuation analysis, returns cases and downside scenarios
  • Lead key workstreams across financial, commercial, legal and operational due diligence, coordinating third-party advisers where appropriate
  • Prepare investment papers and present analysis and recommendations to the Investment Committee
  • Support the structuring, negotiation and execution of flexible capital investments across debt and equity instruments
  • Build trusted relationships with founders, management teams, advisers and financing counterparties throughout the investment process
  • Work closely with portfolio company management teams to monitor performance and support strategic, operational and financing initiatives
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of portfolio company financials, cash flow, covenant performance and key value drivers
  • Support follow-on investments, refinancing and exit planning across the portfolio
  • Contribute to fund-level reporting, portfolio reviews and the continued development of the firm’s investment processes and origination capabilities

Requirements:

  • Approximately two to five years of relevant experience gained in private equity, private credit, corporate finance, investment banking or transaction services
  • Demonstrable exposure to UK lower mid-market transactions and a strong understanding of founder-led and entrepreneurial businesses
  • Excellent financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis capability, with the ability to assess both equity upside and credit downside
  • Experience supporting or leading transaction workstreams, including due diligence, investment committee materials and legal execution
  • A strong understanding of cash flow, capital structures, debt capacity and investment returns
  • Commercial judgement and the ability to identify the key opportunities and risks within a business plan
  • Clear and credible communication skills, with confidence working directly with senior colleagues, advisers and management teams
  • A proactive, detail-oriented and entrepreneurial approach, with the ability to take ownership in a lean team environment
  • An ACA qualification or equivalent training would be advantageous, but is not essential for candidates with directly relevant investment experience
  • A strong academic record and a genuine interest in building a long-term career within lower mid-market private capital
