About us
The UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH) is at the heart of UCL’s Grand Challenge of Global Health. The Institute’s vision is for a world where international policy on global health is informed by world-class research. IGH aims to support the development of robust solutions to aspects of the world’s major global health challenges through scholarly outputs, education, public engagement, translational research, and ultimately by influencing public policy and professional practice.
The Chellaram NOURISH project (Nutritional Optimisation of Underutilised and staple crops through Resilient Integrated Systems for Health) is a five-year, multi-million-pound programme funded by the Chellaram Foundation.
Led by UCL in partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, the University of California, Davis, and partners in India, the project follows a ‘lab-to-community’ pathway: discovery science identifies and breeds more nutritious crop varieties (Workpackages 1–3), which are then translated into low-cost, community-designed growing systems (Workpackage 4) and rigorously evaluated for their impact on nutrition, health, livelihoods and value for money (Workpackage 5).
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team.
About the role
This role sits within Workpackages 4 (Engineering & Co-design) and 5 (Impact, Process & Economics).
This post provides Maternity Leave cover for the substantive postholder, maintaining continuity of operational and financial management across Workpackages 4 and 5 during their leave.
The Project Manager will lead the day-to-day operational and financial management of Workpackages 4 and 5 of the Chellaram NOURISH project, turning community-designed, low-cost growing systems into a rigorously evaluated model for improving nutrition, health and livelihoods in urban India. Working closely with Professor Jolene Skordis and the wider project leadership, the postholder will keep delivery on track against agreed workplans and milestones, manage relevant budgets, and identify, contract and manage relationships with the project’s key India-based partners, including the local implementation and evaluation partners. The postholder will also provide lighter-touch project support across the Chellaram NOURISH project’s other workpackages as required.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager with an interest in global health, nutrition or international development to play a central role in a high-profile, multi-country research and community programme. The role includes periodic travel to India to support partner oversight, community engagement and fieldwork.
This is a part-time, Maternity Cover role (i.e. 0.5 FTE, 18.25 hours per week) and it is available until 30th June 2027.
A job description and person specification can be accessed at the bottom of this page.
Salary range: £44,861 - £55,099 per annum (including London Allowance), depending on experience, pro-rata for part-time staff.
If you have any queries about the role, please contact Prof Jolene Skordis on [email protected].
If you need reasonable adjustments or a more accessible format to apply for this job online or have any queries about the application process, please contact the IGH HR Team on [email protected].
