Job Description
- We are looking for a hands-on Backend Engineerr to own the infrastructure and server-side systems that power our iOS retail point-of-sale application. You will be responsible for keeping our platform reliable, secure, and scalable — from the API layer through to cloud infrastructure — ensuring our retail customers experience zero downtime at the till.
- Backend Development •
- Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs in PHP 8.5 (Yii / Symfony) consumed by the iOS POS client Develop frontend application in AngularJS, CSS/Less, HTML\
- Develop and maintain CoffeeScript / Node.js services and tooling
- Manage relational databases (MySQL / PostgreSQL): schema design, migrations, query optimisation
- Integrate with third-party retail services: payment gateways, inventory systems, accounting systems, and ERP platforms • Own API versioning, deprecation, and backward-compatibility strategies.
- Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of backend development experience in PHP 8+ (Laravel or Symfony preferred)
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript / Node.js for server-side services or tooling
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
- Proficiency with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes or similar)
- Solid experience with a major cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or similar)
- Strong SQL skills: MySQL or PostgreSQL — including performance tuning
- Comfortable working in a high-availability, production-critical environment •
- Familiarity with PCI-DSS requirements and secure coding practices •
- Linux system administration and shell scripting
