Clinical Data, Automation & AI Solutions Developer (Contract)

About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a growing biotechnology company looking for a hands-on technical contractor to improve data management, reporting, and workflow automation across its clinical development organization.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, building practical technical solutions, and using data and AI to make everyday work easier. The ideal candidate has strong programming skills, experience connecting systems and automating processes, and an interest in applying technology within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

The Opportunity

• You’ll work with teams across Clinical Operations, Data Management, Regulatory, and other development functions to improve how information is collected, shared, and reported.
• This is a hands-on role focused on building and maintaining solutions rather than managing a team or overseeing projects. You’ll develop integrations, create dashboards, automate manual processes, and build AI-powered tools that help teams work more efficiently.
• The position is fully remote and offered as an initial 12-month contract, starting at approximately 20 hours per week, with the potential for increased hours as business needs evolve.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Build and maintain data connections between clinical systems, vendor platforms, and internal reporting tools using APIs and data integrations.
• Write scripts using Python, SQL, JavaScript, PowerShell, or similar technologies to process, validate, and reconcile data.
• Develop Smartsheet solutions, including Data Shuttle, automated workflows, alerts, and cross-sheet connections.
• Build dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Smartsheet to improve visibility into clinical studies and operational performance.
• Automate repetitive tasks using Power Automate, Power Query, scripting, and other automation tools.
• Develop and improve AI agents and assistants using Microsoft Copilot Studio, M365 Copilot, or similar platforms.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, improve data quality, and ensure integrations and reports run reliably.
• Document solutions and provide guidance to help internal teams use and maintain the tools.

What They’re Looking For

• Strong hands-on programming and scripting experience, particularly with Python, SQL, JavaScript, PowerShell, or similar languages.
• Experience building and troubleshooting REST API integrations and data pipelines.
• Experience developing dashboards and reports, including the underlying data models.
• Hands-on Smartsheet experience, particularly Data Shuttle, integrations, and workflow automation.
• Experience with Power Automate and Power Query.
• Experience building AI agents, assistants, or AI-powered workflows, ideally using Microsoft Copilot tools.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and deliver working solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to document technical work clearly.

Experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals, clinical research, or other regulated environments is a plus. Familiarity with clinical trial systems such as EDC, CTMS, eTMF, IRT, or LIMS would also be beneficial.
