Job Description
About the Company
Runtime is partnering with a fast-growing AI developer tools company that helps engineering teams improve how they build, test, and review software. The company develops AI-powered technology for software development teams and works with enterprise engineering organizations globally.
Its product supports deployments across cloud and on-premise environments, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. With growing enterprise demand across the US, the company is expanding its customer-facing engineering capabilities.
The leadership team has strong technical backgrounds across software development, AI, and engineering, supported by a global engineering organization and a US-based Field CTO.
About the Role
The company is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of enterprise customer deployments across the United States. This is a hands-on, highly autonomous role focused on installing and deploying software in customer environments, troubleshooting infrastructure issues, and improving deployment processes.
You will work directly with enterprise customers to resolve technical challenges, investigate complex errors, and ensure deployments run reliably across different cloud platforms and on-premise infrastructure. Around 30% of the role involves customer interaction, making strong communication and problem-solving skills important alongside technical expertise.
The position is remote within the US, with a preference for candidates based in the Eastern or Central time zones. Occasional travel to enterprise customer sites is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Own customer installations and software deployments across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Work directly with enterprise customers to investigate and resolve deployment and infrastructure-related issues.
- Troubleshoot complex technical problems by analyzing logs, errors, connectivity issues, and system behavior to identify root causes.
- Manage and improve Kubernetes-based deployment environments.
- Use Terraform, Helm, and infrastructure-as-code practices to configure and maintain customer infrastructure.
- Diagnose infrastructure and networking issues involving firewalls, connectivity, and cloud environments.
- Support deployments across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Handle infrastructure-related support tickets and coordinate technical resolutions with customers and internal engineering teams.
- Identify manual deployment processes and automate them to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Improve existing infrastructure, deployment workflows, and operational practices.
- Work independently to learn unfamiliar systems, investigate issues, and deliver practical solutions.
- Travel occasionally to enterprise customer locations when required.
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 5–7 or more years of relevant experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Deployment Engineering, or a similar technical role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
- Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform and Helm.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and networking, including firewalls and connectivity.
- Experience deploying and supporting software in customer cloud environments or on-premise infrastructure.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and work backwards from logs and errors to identify root causes.
- Confidence working directly with enterprise customers to diagnose and resolve technical problems.
- A self-directed approach to problem-solving, with the ability to learn quickly and work independently.
- Availability to work remotely from within the United States and accommodate occasional customer travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring and observability.
- A software development background before transitioning into DevOps or infrastructure engineering.
- Previous experience in DevOps Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Deployment Engineering roles.
- Experience supporting enterprise customers in technically complex environments.
