Job Description
Junior Industrial Designer
One position, based in London Docklands. Apply by 26 October 2026.
About us
Freshorize and The Barista Cup are sister companies that design, develop and manufacture products for the travel industry.
- Freshorize creates hygiene, fragrance and amenity products for international airlines, covering product design, packaging and technical development.
- The Barista Cup makes convenient, freshly brewed coffee and tea solutions for passengers on the move.
The role
You will join our design team and work on projects for both businesses, helping turn concepts into practical, production-ready products.
This is a hands-on role. We will ask you to balance how a product looks and works with how it is made, what it costs, how it is assembled and when it is due. You will usually have several projects running at once and will follow projects from first concept and packaging through to prototyping and manufacture.
We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
This is an office-based hybrid role in London Docklands; we are not able to offer relocation support.
Key Responsibilities:
Product design and development
- Turn sketches and concepts into detailed 3D CAD models.
- Support product development, component design and assembly.
- Build prototypes and physical samples to test and refine designs.
- Design with manufacture (DFM) and assembly (DFA) in mind.
- Help prepare designs for production.
Graphic design and visual communication
- Create presentations and visuals that explain design concepts clearly.
- Develop and adapt product labels and supporting artwork.
- Prepare product visuals, mock-ups and design assets.
Technical documentation and project support
- Create and maintain accurate technical data sheets, specifications and related documents.
- Keep design files and project records organised so others can find and use them.
- Manage your tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the design team and colleagues across both businesses.
- Liaise with internal departments and external partners to resolve design and technical queries.
- Share ideas, progress and problems clearly, and raise issues early rather than late.
Requirements:
These are essential. Your portfolio should clearly show your 3D CAD, rendering and Adobe skills, and academic and personal projects count. The rest can come through in your CV, cover letter and interview.
-
3D CAD: Experience with SolidWorks or another 3D modelling package, such as Fusion 360 or Rhino.
-
KeyShot: Basic experience rendering and visualising products in KeyShot.
-
Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop: Working proficiency in both.
-
Product design process: A sound understanding of concept development, iteration, prototyping and production.
-
Manufacturing awareness: An understanding of manufacturing processes and the principles of design for manufacture and assembly.
-
Technical aptitude: Strong problem-solving and attention to detail, weighing design quality against practical constraints.
-
Organisation: Good file management and time management, and reliable delivery to deadlines.
-
Communication: Clear communication and effective working with colleagues and external partners.
-
Right to work: You must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Adobe InDesign.
- Experience making physical prototypes and working with materials or manufacturing processes.
- One or more years in a product design, industrial design or related role.
Experience:
Previous professional experience is not essential. We welcome recent graduates and early-career designers who can show strong design thinking, technical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
Qualifications:
A BA or BSc in Product Design, Industrial Design or a related discipline.
Working arrangements:
Location: London Docklands, near Cyprus DLR station
Working pattern: Hybrid, with three days a week in the office
Office hours: 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
Salary: To be confirmed
