Job Description

About us

At Pure Fishing, we’re passionate about helping anglers get more from every moment on the water. As a global leader in fishing tackle, we’re home to some of the industry’s most recognised brands, including PENN, Berkley, Abu Garcia and Ugly Stik. Our Australian team supports the APAC region and brings together people who value collaboration, innovation and an active outdoor lifestyle.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced State Sales Manager to lead customer and key-account performance across Victoria and Tasmania. You’ll be responsible for delivering profitable sales and margin growth while expanding our market share across the region.

This is a customer-facing role, offering the opportunity to spend significant time in market across Victoria and Tasmania, visiting customers, understanding their businesses and building trusted, long-term relationships that drive mutual growth.

You’ll work closely with the Sales Director, Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Accounts Receivable and the broader leadership team. You’ll have the opportunity to shape territory strategy, strengthen major customer partnerships and improve sales forecasting and execution.

This position comes with a Car, Phone, 10% Bonus based on Business Performance + Commission

Key responsibilities

  • Manage customers and key accounts across Victoria and Tasmania
  • Develop territory and key-account plans, lead regular business reviews and implement agreed sales strategies
  • Deliver revenue, margin and market-share targets through effective pricing, ranging, promotions and trade-spend management
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities while monitoring customer, market and competitor activity
  • Own weekly sales planning and forecasting, improving forecast accuracy and providing clear reporting against sales KPIs
  • Partner with customers to strengthen stock control, reordering, merchandising, product presentation and new-product execution
  • Build trusted relationships with retail decision-makers and deliver product training to strengthen store knowledge and sales performance
  • Collaborate across teams on budgeting, purchasing projections, marketing activity, debtor management and continuous improvement

About you

  • At least three years’ experience in sales or key-account management, ideally within consumer goods, fishing or outdoor recreation. Experience within retail, or working closely with retail customers, would be highly regarded
  • A strong track record of achieving revenue and margin targets and growing customer accounts
  • Commercial capability across sales analysis, forecasting, pricing, promotions and account planning
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to close sales and hold others accountable
  • Strong organisation, time management and project-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; a relevant business or marketing qualification is desirable
