Principal Software Engineer or Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing SaaS applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Java, cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), distributed systems, and modern software architecture. This role requires strong technical leadership, architectural decision-making, and collaboration across engineering, product, and business teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of enterprise-scale SaaS products and platforms.
• Drive technical strategy, architecture standards, and engineering best practices across teams.
• Design and implement highly scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native applications using Java and cloud services.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, DevOps, Security, and other stakeholders to deliver business solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools.
• Ensure system reliability, performance optimization, and operational excellence.
• Lead code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical design discussions.
• Establish CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, observability, and cloud governance standards.
• Drive modernization initiatives, microservices adoption, and cloud transformation programs.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide architectural solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and RESTful API development.
• Extensive experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
• Strong expertise in designing and building SaaS applications and multi-tenant architectures.
• Experience with Microservices Architecture and Distributed Systems.
• Knowledge of cloud-native development patterns and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of API management, security, authentication, and authorization frameworks.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Expertise in system design, scalability, performance tuning, and high-availability architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM Templates, etc.).

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing and delivering cloud-native applications.
• Proven experience building and scaling SaaS products in AWS or Azure environments.
• Strong understanding of security, compliance, and enterprise-grade software development practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, etc.).
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms.
• Exposure to AI/ML integrations and modern SaaS platform ecosystems.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
