A leading financial services organization is looking for an experienced AI engineering professional to help develop its next generation of AI-powered products, intelligent workflows, and internal AI platforms.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Principal AI Software Engineer is a senior individual contributor role focused on taking AI initiatives from initial concept through production deployment. You will help shape technical direction, build scalable AI applications, and develop platform capabilities that can be used across multiple teams.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and external clients, you will identify opportunities to apply AI to automation and decision support. The role requires deep Python and backend engineering expertise, hands-on experience building production AI systems, and the ability to make sound architectural decisions. You will also help establish engineering standards for AI evaluation, observability, reliability, testing, and governance while mentoring engineers across the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and deploy production-grade AI applications and agentic workflows.

• Design scalable backend services and AI platform capabilities that can be reused across multiple teams.

• Develop systems using large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, vector search, agent frameworks, and workflow orchestration.

• Establish best practices for AI evaluation, observability, testing, reliability, and governance.

• Drive technical architecture decisions for AI applications and platform development.

• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical development across the organization.

• Partner with internal stakeholders and external clients to identify high-impact opportunities for AI-driven automation and decision support.

• Translate business needs into practical AI solutions and communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Deep expertise in Python and backend application development.

• Proven experience building and scaling production AI and machine learning systems.

• Hands-on production experience with LLMs, agentic AI, RAG, embeddings, model evaluation, and modern AI frameworks.

• Strong system design and software architecture experience.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts in terms of business value.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in financial services, fintech, capital markets, real estate technology, or other highly regulated industries is preferred.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The targeted base salary is $250,000–$300,000, plus a discretionary bonus.
