Job Description
About the Company
A global athletic footwear and apparel retailer with a strong focus on customer experience across mobile apps, responsive websites, and in-store interactions. The Experience Design team brings together designers, researchers, and writers to create engaging digital experiences that connect customers with the brand, particularly through sneaker launches, loyalty programs, and other app-based experiences.
About the Role
The Product Designer, Mobile App will help shape native iOS and Android experiences for the brand’s most loyal and engaged customers. This role focuses on designing high-visibility mobile features that address customer needs while supporting business goals.
Working closely with product managers, engineers, and researchers, you’ll take designs from discovery and early concepts through prototyping, implementation, and release. You’ll also contribute to the mobile design system, apply accessibility standards, and help ensure that the final product matches the intended design across devices and operating systems.
This is a six-month W2 contract with the potential for extension or conversion to a full-time position. The role is remote and requires working Eastern Time (EST) hours.
Key Responsibilities
•Design native iOS and Android experiences from concept through execution for high-traffic mobile app features.
•Collaborate with product, engineering, and research teams to translate user needs, business requirements, and platform constraints into intuitive mobile experiences.
•Design app-specific interactions and experiences that make effective use of mobile capabilities.
•Apply a user-centered, data-driven design process, developing concepts through sketches, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
•Work within the enterprise design system and contribute mobile components, patterns, and documentation as the system expands to app experiences.
•Build accessible mobile experiences by applying ADA, WCAG, and native platform accessibility standards throughout the design process.
•Partner with mobile engineers through design-to-code workflows, review builds against design specifications, and conduct quality assurance across devices, operating system versions, and screen sizes.
•Own assigned projects from discovery through release, communicating progress, design decisions, and rationale to teammates and stakeholders.
•Participate in design critiques, provide constructive feedback, and incorporate input to improve design quality.
Required Qualifications
•At least 1–2 years of product design experience, with a focus on native mobile applications.
•A strong portfolio demonstrating several shipped iOS and/or Android projects and clearly showing your individual contributions.
•Familiarity with Apple Human Interface Guidelines and Google Material Design, including an understanding of how native mobile patterns differ from responsive web experiences.
•Proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, variables, and design tokens.
•Working knowledge of accessibility standards and their application to mobile experiences.
•Experience designing within a design system and contributing to its development.
•Comfort working closely with mobile engineers and understanding how design decisions translate into implementation and release cycles.
•Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Interests
•Product design experience in e-commerce or retail.
•Curiosity about AI-assisted design workflows and an interest in using emerging tools to accelerate exploration, prototyping, and design-to-code handoff.
Compensation & Contract Details
•Hourly rate: $40.
•Schedule: 40 hours per week.
•Contract duration: Six months.
•Employment arrangement: W2 contract with weekly pay and benefits.
•Work arrangement: Remote, with Eastern Time (EST) working hours required.
