Software Developer - Remote Role

About the Role

Associate Staffing is seeking a Lead Software Developer for a remote, contract-to-hire opportunity focused on healthcare technology. This role will lead the design and development of secure, scalable cloud-based applications, with particular emphasis on Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

You will guide architectural decisions, oversee technical implementation, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable applications that support healthcare operations and patient care. The position requires strong cloud engineering and software development expertise, along with an understanding of security, compliance, and modern DevOps practices.

The ideal candidate brings substantial development experience, can lead complex technical initiatives independently, and knows how to use emerging development tools, including generative AI, without compromising software quality or established engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

•Follow the full software development lifecycle to design, build, deploy, and optimize cloud-native applications.

•Lead architectural and system design decisions, ensuring applications are scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable.

•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, prepare specifications, and deliver high-quality software.

•Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.

•Build and manage containerized applications and infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices.

•Apply generative AI tools to improve development efficiency while maintaining coding standards and best practices.

•Design and deploy healthcare IT solutions with appropriate security and compliance measures.

•Provide technical leadership and coordinate work across multiple teams or resources.

•Communicate architectural decisions and technical solutions clearly to technical and business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

•Strong experience in cloud architecture and application development, particularly with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

•Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.

•Proficiency in CI/CD pipeline development and DevOps practices.

•Strong software engineering fundamentals and proficiency with Git.

•Experience designing and deploying secure, scalable cloud-native applications.

•Ability to work independently and lead complex technical projects involving multiple teams or resources.

•Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical solutions effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

•Epic EHR domain expertise; Epic certification is preferred.

•Experience with Kubernetes and Docker for containerization and deployment.

•Familiarity with data technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, and Databricks.

•Experience with observability and security tools, including Grafana, Azure Log Analytics, and OpenTelemetry.

•Experience integrating generative AI capabilities or using AI-assisted development tools.

•Healthcare industry experience, particularly with healthcare systems integration.

•An advanced degree or relevant certifications in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.

•At least 10 years of professional software development experience, including leadership responsibilities.

•A proven track record of leading complex cloud-native application projects in healthcare.
