Job Description

Float Clinical Case Manager – experienced in paediatrics and adults

Location: London - HCA Healthcare UK Network

Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Monday to Friday, with a choice of 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm
Permanent contract
Salary: Competitive

This role is fully site-based and involves working across multiple HCA Healthcare UK locations in London, providing operational and clinical cover where required. Travel between sites will be expected as part of the role

We’re looking for a Clinical Case Manager to join our Case Management Team, providing support across HCA Healthcare UK’s hospital network in London.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Band 6 (or equivalent) nurse with extensive inpatient bedside nursing experience across both adult and paediatric care, or a senior nurse with a strong background within the healthcare insurance sector. As part of a central float team, you’ll provide expert case management support across multiple HCA sites, stepping into services where additional expertise, capacity or cover is required. The role offers the opportunity to apply your clinical expertise, leadership skills and professional judgement in a broader, system-focused position that influences patient outcomes across the HCA network.

Working across some of the UK’s leading private hospitals, you’ll partner with multidisciplinary teams, consultants and third-party payers to coordinate complex patient journeys, support effective discharge planning and optimise patient outcomes. We’re seeking someone with a proven track record of clinical leadership, autonomous decision-making and managing complex care pathways who thrives in a varied and fast-paced environment. No two days are the same, and you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across a diverse range of specialities, patient groups and clinical settings.

Above all else, we’re committed to the care and improvement of human life. It’s this guiding vision that influences everything we do at HCA UK. From the CEO to the colleagues on the floor, we all have a part to play in delivering exceptional care to our patients. Others may think this is just a role in the Case Management Team, but to us, you’ll be part of a wider team with a unique sense of purpose, one that helps improve lives on a daily basis.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide specialist case management support across HCA Healthcare UK’s hospital network, covering planned and unplanned service requirements.
  • Assess, plan, coordinate and review patient care and discharge planning across adult and paediatric services from admission through to discharge.
  • Act as a key liaison between patients, families, consultants, multidisciplinary teams and third-party payers to facilitate safe, effective and timely care.
  • Complete utilisation reviews and obtain authorisation for treatment, ongoing care and discharge plans as required.
  • Support clinical teams by providing expert case management guidance, promoting best practice and ensuring consistency of patient pathways across sites.

What you’ll bring:

  • Registered with the NMC as an Adult Nurse, with substantial post‑registration experience and demonstrable exposure to paediatric care.
  • Extensive inpatient bedside nursing experience across both adult and paediatric services is essential—candidates must have hands‑on clinical experience in both settings, not one or the other.
  • Strong background in inpatient nursing or, alternatively, significant experience within the healthcare insurance sector in a clinical or case management role.
  • Proven expertise in utilisation review and managing complex discharge planning pathways.
  • Senior-level clinical experience, typically at Band 6 or above (or equivalent), with demonstrable clinical leadership, service coordination, team supervision and/or management responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to lead complex clinical decision-making, influence multidisciplinary teams and coordinate care across multiple stakeholders.
