Job Description
• $80–$150 per hour equivalent, paid per accepted task
• 100% remote
• Part-time
• About 15 hours a week, you choose when
Work on the cutting edge of AI engineering, on your own schedule, and get paid for the fluid mechanics and aerodynamics expertise you already have.
The AI systems everyone is talking about are trained and tested by real engineers. The teams building them need CFD and aerodynamics engineers who can create realistic simulation problems, judge whether an AI solution is technically sound, write the reference solution a professional would give, and explain exactly where its modeling or results fall short. Your judgment becomes part of how the next generation of AI models handles engineering problems. This is that work, done remotely, around your current job.
What you’ll do
• Create CFD and aerodynamic models by defining the geometry, computational domains and meshes
• Use Python scripts and engineering tools from the command line to run repeatable simulation workflows
• Review flow results and aerodynamic forces for numerical and physical validity
• Compare simulations with reference data and write verification criteria for AI-generated solutions
Why this is worth your time
• Get paid the equivalent of $80–$150 an hour to build real AI skills, on top of your current job
• Work directly with frontier AI engineering tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most CFD and aerodynamics engineers will not have for years
• Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping engineering, and the engineers who understand it from the inside will lead that change
• Fully remote, fully flexible, no minimum shift, no commute
Who this is for
• An MS or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, or in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in aerodynamics, fluid dynamics or thermofluids; or a bachelor’s degree in either field together with 1–2 years of aerodynamics-focused professional or research experience
• Hands-on CFD or aerodynamic analysis experience, with strong knowledge of fluid mechanics and applied aerodynamics
• Working experience with Python and scientific computing, plus at least one engineering tool you can run from the command line or set up in code, such as OpenFOAM, SU2 or Gmsh
• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; we bring the training on the tools.
Pay and details
• $80–$150 per hour equivalent; pay is per accepted task, as an independent contractor
• About 15 hours a week, you choose when; fully remote, United States
