Job Description
• $40–$100 per hour equivalent, paid per task
• 100% remote
• Part-time
• Fully flexible schedule
Work on the cutting edge of AI design tools, on your own schedule, and get paid for the mechanical CAD expertise you already have.
The AI systems everyone is talking about are trained and tested by real experts. The teams building them need mechanical CAD specialists who can build parametric models from written briefs, check models against technical requirements, and explain clearly in writing what needs to change. Your judgment helps shape the next generation of AI tools for design and manufacturing. This is that work, done remotely around your current job.
What you’ll do
• Turn written briefs into fully parametric 3D CAD models with robust feature trees and precise constraints
• Edit existing models to meet technical requirements, then document the changes clearly
• Check models for dimensional accuracy, tolerance use and manufacturability
• Review designs for injection molding and sheet metal production
Why this is worth your time
• Get paid the equivalent of $40–$100 an hour to build real AI skills, on top of your current job
• Work directly with frontier AI design tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most mechanical CAD specialists will not have for years
• Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping mechanical CAD and manufacturing, and the people who understand it from the inside will lead that change
• Fully remote, fully flexible, no minimum shift, no commute
Who this is for
• At least four years using SolidWorks, FreeCAD, Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor or a comparable parametric CAD platform, with a background in mechanical CAD modeling and assembly-level design
• Practical GD&T experience using ASME Y14.5 or an equivalent standard, plus experience supporting at least two manufacturing methods
• Fluent English, strong dimensional-accuracy and manufacturability judgment, and care in applying detailed guidelines the same way every time
• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; we bring the training on the tools.
Pay and details
• $40–$100 per hour equivalent; pay is per task, as an independent contractor
• Part-time, flexible schedule; fully remote, United States
