Job Description
• $30–$100 per hour equivalent, paid per task
• 100% remote
• Part-time
• Fully flexible schedule
Work on the cutting edge of AI design tools, on your own schedule, and get paid for the mechanical CAD expertise you already have.
The AI systems everyone is talking about are trained and tested by real mechanical design experts. The teams building them need mechanical CAD professionals who can create realistic models and drawings, judge whether the designs are accurate and ready to manufacture, and write the expert reasoning behind each design decision, model edit and audit finding. Your judgment becomes part of how the next generation of AI models understands mechanical design. This is that work, done remotely, around your current job.
What you’ll do
• Turn detailed written briefs into fully parametric 3D CAD models of individual parts and mechanical assemblies
• Revise existing models to meet new requirements while preserving a robust parametric structure
• Check each model’s tolerances, dimensional accuracy and manufacturability, and confirm it is ready for production
• Create and interpret technical drawings, then explain design decisions, model edits and audit findings clearly
Why this is worth your time
• Get paid the equivalent of $30–$100 an hour to build real AI skills, on top of your current job
• Work directly with frontier AI design tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most mechanical CAD professionals will not have for years
• Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping mechanical design and manufacturing, and the people who understand it from the inside will lead that change
• Fully remote, fully flexible, no minimum shift, no commute
Who this is for
• At least four years of hands-on parametric modeling experience for edit-level work, or 10 or more years for complex model creation
• Strong Autodesk Inventor expertise and the ability to use comparable parametric CAD platforms
• Practical GD&T experience under ASME Y14.5 or an equivalent standard, design-for-manufacturability experience across multiple production processes, and fluent English for clear technical documentation and communication
• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; we bring the training on the tools.
Pay and details
• $30–$100 per hour equivalent; pay is per task, as an independent contractor
• Part-time, flexible schedule; fully remote, United States
