About The Role Mercor is seeking passionate and skilled Software Developers to participate in a unique project that involves sharing and enhancing AI coding sessions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work remotely on flexible schedules, contributing to real-world AI projects by building features using open-weight and Gemini models provided by the company. As a Software Developer in this role, you will independently develop and improve AI-powered features, utilizing your expertise in coding and AI tools. The position is contract-based, offering a compensation of $500 per task, with an emphasis on autonomous work and continuous learning. This role is ideal for developers who are eager to showcase their skills, experiment with different AI models, and contribute to the advancement of AI technology while maintaining flexibility in their work schedule.

Qualifications Must-Have

• Active involvement in building a verifiable software project, whether as a side project, startup, or a feature powered by large language models (LLMs).
• Regular user of AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or Cline, demonstrating familiarity with AI-assisted coding environments.
• Comfortable working in a terminal environment and proficient with Git version control on Mac or Linux operating systems.

Preferred

• Experience in developing agentic or LLM-integrated features, showcasing your ability to create advanced AI functionalities.

Start date for this role is immediate, allowing quick onboarding for qualified candidates eager to contribute to innovative AI projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement features on your own real-world projects utilizing open-weight and Gemini models provided by Mercor.
• Select appropriate AI models for each task and switch between them seamlessly based on project requirements and natural workflow.
• Use dedicated chat channels per task to streamline communication and coding processes, ensuring organized and efficient development.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet project deadlines while continuously working to enhance AI model performance.
• Collaborate with the Mercor team to share insights, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to the collective improvement of AI tools and models.
