Angular front-end developer

Walvis Technologies is hiring a senior Angular front-end developer to build and modernize the web front ends we deliver for government and enterprise clients, and to work directly with the people who use them.

About us

Walvis Technologies is an Ottawa consulting and development firm, established in 2012. We design, build and support Microsoft cloud, AI and content systems for government and enterprise: citizen portals, records systems, custom applications and AI tools. Everyone is in-house. The people who design a solution also build and support it.

The requirements (all four are firm)

1. At least 8 years of professional front-end development in Angular: paid, production work
2. You live in Canada. The role is remote within Canada, Ottawa preferred
3. You are eligible to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance
4. You apply for yourself and do the work yourself. No recruiters, staffing agencies or outsourcing firms. The role cannot be subcontracted

What you’ll do

• Build new Angular front ends for the web applications and portals we deliver, from the first screen to production
• Modernize existing front ends to current Angular versions and patterns without breaking what users rely on
• Turn requirements and designs into interfaces that are accessible, responsive and fast
• Work with back-end developers on the APIs your screens depend on
• Write tests, review pull requests and keep the codebase easy to change
• Work directly with clients: demos, the right questions, trade-offs explained in plain language

What you bring

• Modern Angular: standalone components, signals, built-in control flow, lazy-loaded routes, reactive forms
• RxJS used with judgement, and NgRx or a similar state approach
• Senior TypeScript, HTML and CSS/SCSS, with responsive layouts that hold up on a phone
• Accessibility to WCAG 2.1 AA, tested with a keyboard and a screen reader
• Unit and end-to-end testing (Jest or Jasmine/Karma, Cypress or Playwright)
• Performance: bundle size, lazy loading, Core Web Vitals
• Git, pull requests, code review and CI pipelines

Assets (not required)

• Large Angular upgrades across major versions, or an AngularJS migration
• Angular server-side rendering and hydration
• A component library or design system
• Azure, Entra ID (MSAL), Azure DevOps, and front ends for .NET, Dynamics 365 or Power Platform
• Public-sector front-end work

Good to know

• Full-time, remote anywhere in Canada (Ottawa preferred)
