About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Product Designer to take ownership of a key area within the Mark43 product portfolio. This senior individual contributor role requires a strategic thinker who can set direction, clarify complex and ambiguous problems, and lead cross-functional teams from discovery through delivery. As the design leader for your product area, you will collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to define not only how problems are solved but also prioritize which problems are most impactful to address. Your deep understanding of the needs of first responders and public safety agencies will enable you to translate these insights into thoughtful, intuitive products that support critical workflows. While you will have clear ownership of your designated product area, your influence will extend across the broader portfolio, including Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, Analytics and Insights, and mobile applications. Additionally, you will contribute to elevating the overall design craft and systems thinking within the Product Design team, raising standards for quality, consistency, and innovation across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional product design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating significant ownership and impact on shipped software products
• 5+ years designing complex enterprise SaaS products or similarly sophisticated systems and workflows
• Proven track record of leading design for substantial product areas, including setting strategic direction and driving outcomes from discovery to delivery
• Strong product judgment with the ability to balance customer needs, technical constraints, and business priorities
• Deep expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, with the ability to convert insights into actionable product decisions
• Experience partnering closely with Product and Engineering leaders, influencing decisions without relying on formal authority
• Excellent interaction and visual design skills, with a high standard for craftsmanship
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex design decisions clearly to stakeholders at all levels
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with ambiguous or evolving requirements
• Experience in public safety, law enforcement, fire, EMS, or mission-critical software is a plus
• Familiarity with designing for situational awareness, maps, responsive experiences, native mobile applications, multimodal interactions, or AI/ML-powered products is advantageous

• Define and set the design vision for a critical product area, identifying key customer and product challenges and creating a roadmap for experience evolution
• Lead complex initiatives from discovery through implementation, conducting research, synthesizing insights, exploring multiple approaches, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop compelling solutions
• Make strategic trade-offs, balancing user experience, technical feasibility, and business goals while advocating for the end-user
• Engage directly with first responders and public safety agencies to understand high-stakes workflows and translate insights into intuitive, reliable products that reduce cognitive load
• Design across various environments and devices, including dispatch workstations, in-vehicle laptops, tablets, and mobile applications, ensuring a seamless ecosystem of interactions
