About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Staff AI/ML Engineer to join our Embodied AI organization. This senior individual contributor will play a pivotal role in developing and deploying machine learning solutions that enhance autonomous driving capabilities. The ideal candidate will design and implement advanced machine learning models to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient vehicle behavior across various real-world scenarios. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, contribute to the technical direction of projects, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of innovation and technical excellence. Your work will be instrumental in translating research breakthroughs into scalable onboard ML solutions, continuously improving our autonomy stack, and supporting the future of autonomous mobility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field
• Experience working with large-scale foundation models and alignment techniques applied to real-world systems
• Proven ability to deliver applied ML solutions within real-world constraints and timelines
• Proficiency in PyTorch and Python programming languages
• Experience building and scaling model training pipelines for efficient iteration
• Strong data processing skills using tools such as NumPy, Pandas, and Apache Spark
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across engineering teams
• Experience deploying ML models into production environments and understanding end-to-end deployment workflows
• Preferred: Experience in robotics or autonomous driving systems

Responsibilities

• Design and implement machine learning solutions aligned with General Motors’ autonomous driving objectives
• Apply techniques such as unsupervised pre-training, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, foundation modeling, and model scaling to solve problems related to object detection, tracking, classification, trajectory generation, and safety
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy models and algorithms into onboard vehicle systems
• Contribute to applied research efforts and stay current with advancements in ML frameworks and methodologies
• Design and develop efficient infrastructure, pipelines, and tooling to facilitate rapid model iteration and deployment
• Lead technical execution from prototyping through production deployment, documenting best practices and lessons learned
• Support and mentor engineering team members through technical collaboration, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
