Job Description
The Senior Salesforce Developer will lead the development of scalable, user-centered technology solutions designed to strengthen public health operations and improve service delivery. Combining advanced Salesforce expertise with firsthand experience in governmental public health, you will help translate complex operational needs into practical, sustainable digital solutions. You will contribute to technical architecture decisions, lead complex implementations, and promote development best practices across collaborative teams. Working within an Agile environment, you will partner with architects, analysts, and quality assurance specialists to deliver high-quality Salesforce applications. You will also mentor junior developers and influence technical direction while advocating for the real-world needs of public health professionals. This remote opportunity is ideal for a mission-driven developer who wants to use technology to create meaningful, lasting improvements for communities nationwide.
Accountabilities:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain Salesforce applications using Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Salesforce Flow, and declarative automation tools.
- Lead technical discussions and contribute to solution architecture and design decisions in collaboration with architects and other technical stakeholders.
- Translate complex public health workflows, operational requirements, and user needs into scalable, secure, and maintainable Salesforce implementations.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers through pair programming, code reviews, constructive feedback, and ongoing knowledge sharing.
- Establish and promote development best practices by producing clean, well-documented, reusable, and testable code that meets established quality standards.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve complex technical challenges, recommending practical solutions that align with business objectives and public health operational realities.
- Collaborate with solutions analysts, architects, quality assurance specialists, and other team members to ensure technical deliverables meet functional requirements and end-user expectations.
- Participate in Agile Release Train (ART) activities and SAFe practices, including Program Increment (PI) planning, two-week sprint cycles, daily standups, backlog refinement, and sprint retrospectives.
- Contribute to technical roadmaps, sprint planning, and backlog prioritization, ensuring that development activities support project goals and long-term platform sustainability.
- Work with quality assurance teams to validate functionality, maintain comprehensive test coverage, and deliver reliable, high-quality applications.
- Apply knowledge of governmental public health operations to challenge impractical design assumptions, anticipate user needs, and ensure that technology solutions reflect real-world constraints.
- Contribute to the evolution of public health technology platforms and client implementations by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation, and stronger system performance.
Requirements:
- Salesforce development experience: At least three years of hands-on experience developing Salesforce applications, with strong proficiency in Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components, Salesforce Flow, and declarative automation.
- Governmental public health experience: One to three years of direct experience working for a governmental public health agency at the local, state, tribal, or federal level. Experience with organizations such as the CDC or HRSA may be relevant. Applicants must clearly demonstrate this experience on their resumes.
- Salesforce certification: Salesforce Platform Developer I certification is required. Salesforce Platform Developer II certification is preferred.
- Salesforce platform expertise: Solid understanding of Salesforce data modeling, platform security, application architecture, and scalable development practices.
- Integration and automation: Familiarity with system integration patterns, REST and SOAP APIs, and the implementation of automated workflows.
