Junior WordPress Developer

Sleeky is a web design and digital marketing agency based in the North East of England. We work with a wide range of clients, from local SMEs to established businesses, delivering websites, SEO, paid ads and ongoing digital support.

We’re a small, largely remote team, which means your work is visible, valued and genuinely makes a difference.

We’re looking for a Part-Time Junior WordPress Developer to support our web design work. This is a well-defined, task-based role, ideal if you want genuine agency experience with clear responsibilities and manageable hours. You won’t be building whole websites from scratch: your work will centre on changes to existing client sites and assisting with building themes and sub-pages, always to a clear written brief.

Key responsibilities

• Make changes to existing client WordPress websites, including layout, content, plugin and page-builder updates (Advanced Custom Fields / flexible layouts, Elementor, with some WPBakery)
• Assisting with the build and customisation of themes and sub-pages, checking the output carefully before it goes live
• Test your work across devices and browsers, and against the written brief, before handing it over
• Carry out routine site maintenance, such as updates, backups and basic troubleshooting
• Provide regular, proactive updates on progress, and raise questions early rather than at the deadline
• Follow our documented checklists and processes, and suggest improvements to them as our workflows change

Hours

This is a part-time role of around 10 hours per week, with a guaranteed minimum of 5 hours. Additional hours may be offered based on business demand. We’ll confirm your hours for the week ahead in advance, so you can plan around them, and you can work flexibly within the agreed weekly total.

What we’re looking for

Essential

• Solid practical experience editing and building with WordPress, and with Elementor in particular
• Strong attention to detail, with a habit of checking your own work against a brief before handing it over
• Comfortable working independently on clearly defined tasks, and reliable with proactive updates on progress
• The ability to review work critically and spot problems such as inconsistent spacing, broken responsive layouts or placeholder text
• Good written communication

Desirable

• Experience with WPBakery and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) / flexible layouts
• Familiarity with cPanel, staging sites and basic site troubleshooting
• Previous agency or freelance experience
