Job Description
Looking to work from anywhere? 🌎 This could be your chance to kickstart your digital-nomad journey!
About Us:
We run Port Lowdown, a fast-growing US-based digital media company. We help independent cruisers navigate global itineraries with zero friction. Having documented over 150 cruise ports, we are building a highly searchable video library that serves a passionate community of travelers. We operate with a culture of autonomy, extreme organization, and mutual respect. We are looking for a long-term team member to grow with us, starting part-time with a clear pathway to full-time.
The Role:
You will be working directly with our Post-Production Director, Troy. You will take over the assembly and initial cut phases of our flagship port guides.
This is not a gig where you have to organize a messy hard drive. You will receive a meticulously packaged Premiere Pro project file complete with proxies, color-coded pancake timelines, isolated audio tracks, pre-built stringouts, and a detailed voiceover transcript with director’s notes. Your job is to take these organized ingredients and build compelling, fast-paced, high-retention travel episodes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build the “Hero” Hook Craft dynamic, 60–90 second opening montages using our curated top 5% clips, archival “authority” footage, and standard MOGRT transition templates.
- Navigate Pancake Timelines Work from chronological stringouts utilizing our “Red Tag” chapter marker system on V2 to efficiently pull selects down to your master timeline.Audio
- Balancing Loosely edit the T1 narration track head-to-tail, mixing it with background music and preserving specific natural ambient sounds using J and L cuts and audio ducking.
- Integrate Promos Seamlessly drop in commercial assets (QR codes, PDF guide mockups) into mid-roll sections from dedicated project bins (e.g., 06_PROMOS_AND_CTAS).
Required Technical Mastery:
- Premiere Pro Native: Highly proficient. (DaVinci Resolve familiarity is a bonus, but Premiere is our engine).
- Proxy Workflow Expert: You must completely understand how to download a transfer folder, offline high-res media, attach local proxies, and work with the “Toggle Proxies” workflow to maintain our 4K (3840x2160) Rec. 2100 HLG / 29.97fps sequence settings.
- File Management Discipline: You respect a rigid bin structure and understand why you only upload a newly versioned .prproj file back to our shared drive, rather than uploading massive media files.
- VFR Handling: Knowledge of syncing and managing Variable Frame Rate screen recordings to avoid audio drift.
Before Applying, You Must Follow These Exact Steps and Add the Answers to the First Page of Your CV:
-
At the very top of the page: ‘Port Lowdown Editor: [Your Favorite Color]’
