Job Description

About Traliant

Traliant is an award-winning technology company transforming compliance training from boring to brilliant. We empower organizations to build healthier, more inclusive workplaces through engaging, interactive online training on topics like workplace harassment, diversity and inclusion, and data privacy. As a fast-growing, remote-first company, we’re looking for team members who thrive in dynamic environments and share our passion for excellence and innovation.

About the Role

We are hiring a dedicated instructional designer to support our course library and custom client work, beginning as a contract through the end of December with the potential to convert to full time.

You will sit between our in-house legal team and our production teams. You will take compliance source material, develop it into scripts, storyboards and job aids, and stay with each course through development and review, making sure what gets built matches what was designed.

Our training is not meant to look like traditional compliance training. Learners engage with it rather than sit through it. They make choices, work through realistic scenarios and handle situations where the right answer is not obvious. It should also be entertaining, which is not a word most people associate with compliance. We ask for more than the familiar pattern of read the slide, answer the question, move on. We are looking for someone who treats course design as a creative problem and is willing to bring ideas we have not tried.

About You

You are an instructional designer who champions the learner.

You know the craft. You understand how adults actually learn, how to structure a module, and when a scenario will do more work than an explanation. You bring that expertise to every course instead of reaching for a template. When the source material is dense, your first question is how to make it land.

You also work well without much scaffolding. We move quickly, the volume is high, and you will have real ownership from the start.

Detail matters here more than it does in most design work. A wrong date, a misstated threshold or a rule that does not apply in that jurisdiction still reaches thousands of employees, and eventually a regulator. We need someone who notices the small thing that is off.

You may be a great fit if:

● You have a strong instructional design background and genuine expertise in the craft, not only experience producing content.

● You can carry several courses at once with minimal oversight, and you work well at pace.

● You treat course design as a creative problem and bring ideas we have not tried.

● You are genuinely excited by the chance to design courses that are bold and innovative.

● You are comfortable asking our legal experts the right questions, then turning what they tell you into a scene.

● You stay with a course through review and speak up when the build starts to drift from what was designed.

● You keep the learner’s experience in front of you, even when the subject is a statute.

● You catch the small errors before they ship.

● You design for behavior change rather than completion, and you think about what someone will actually do differently afterward.

● You deliver on time. We release monthly, and a late script holds up every team behind you.

Our attorneys set the compliance position and our design and development teams build the course. Your focus is the learner. What matters is whether someone handles a situation differently at work a month later. Employees meet gray areas far more often than they meet clear violations. Teaching someone to think through an ambiguous situation is harder than teaching them a rule, and that is what we would be asking you to design for.

Required Skills and Experience

● Three or more years in instructional design or learning experience design, with demonstrated expertise in learning design and not only content production

● Experience writing scripts and building storyboards as a primary responsibility

● Experience designing interactions, not only linear content — scenarios, branching, click-and-reveal and similar

● Demonstrated experience turning complex, technical or regulatory source material into engaging learning

● Working knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA

● Strong written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple courses against a monthly release schedule

● Cross-functional project management experience, ke…
