A leading AI research company that works with large AI companies is seeking experienced electrical and electronics engineers to evaluate how frontier AI models handle real engineering work: specifying a circuit, stabilizing a control loop, closing a link budget, sizing a power stage and debugging a signal chain. The models can talk fluently about electronics; what they cannot yet do reliably is the actual work. This is project-based, fully remote work you can do alongside a current job, including evenings and weekends.

What the Work Involves

• Design realistic engineering problems from your own work, with the supporting files an engineer would use: schematics, simulation setups, datasheets, board files, measurement data
• Run those problems through frontier AI models and grade what they produce against a professional standard
• Critique model-generated derivations, schematics, component selections, simulation setups and design calculations
• Compare two model outputs on the same problem and document where each fell short
• Write grading rubrics and the reasoning behind your judgment
• Flag concrete failures: wrong assumptions, sign and unit errors, unphysical results, invalid component or topology choices, fabricated datasheet values, misread schematics

You need depth in at least one of these, plus enough working knowledge of the others to judge work in adjacent areas:

• Analog, RF and mixed-signal
• Power electronics
• Embedded systems and controls
• Signal processing
• Electromagnetics, microwaves and antennas
• Photonics and optoelectronics
• Electric power and energy systems
• PCB and board-level design

Who This Is For

• 2+ years of industry experience in circuit or electronics engineering (5+ years is a plus), currently or recently doing the technical work yourself
• Background in electrical or electronics engineering or a closely related discipline; hands-on experience matters more than degrees or licenses
• Strong command of circuit analysis and design tradeoffs, and able to defend component-level and system-level decisions
• Fluent in the tools of the field: SPICE or similar, schematic capture and PCB tools, lab instruments, MATLAB or Python
• Real weekly capacity. This project prioritizes 30 to 40 hours per week; part-time is considered
• Hands-on practitioner: you currently do, or recently did, the work yourself as an individual contributor, not solely as a manager
• Strong written English; you can explain clearly why a result is wrong, not only that it is
• Familiar with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT, with the judgment to tell a well-reasoned answer from a plausible-sounding wrong one
• Comfortable working independently, following detailed written instructions and incorporating feedback

Pay, Hours and Location

• Pay: $40 to $125 per hour, depending on project and expertise. Bonus rates are available on some projects. Paid via PayPal on a regular schedule. You are paid for every step you complete
• Hours: Minimum 10 hours per week with no maximum. This project prioritizes 30 to 40 hours per week, and full-time hours are available. Multi-day task timers let you spread work across days
• Location: Remote. Must be based in the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, Ireland or New Zealand
• Tools: Access to the AI models you will evaluate is provided; no personal subscription needed

How the Process Works

• We review your background and experience
• Candidates who move forward receive an application link and complete an unpaid skills assessment (about 1 to 4 hours). It tests domain judgment and careful reading. The assessment must be entirely your own work; AI-assisted submissions are detected and rejected
• If you pass, you complete onboarding and a short training project, then propose and build tasks from your own professional experience, with expert review and written feedback at each stage
