Jimmy Garcia Catering is looking for an experienced, energetic Bar Manager to lead The Skate Lounge Bar at Somerset House this Christmas.

A lively, family-friendly bar and events space, The Skate Lounge serves quality drinks and festive treats while hosting public guests, private groups and exclusive events.

The Role

You’ll take full ownership of the bar operation, leading a team of up to 7–8 and ensuring every service is smooth, efficient and memorable.

You’ll:

• Lead, train and motivate the bar team.
• Maintain exceptional standards of drinks quality, presentation and service.
• Manage public service, private events and group bookings.
• Oversee rotas, staffing and labour costs.
• Manage stock, ordering, stock takes, wastage and GP.
• Build strong relationships with clients, sponsors and venue teams.
• Complete cash-ups, sales reporting and daily operational checks.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, Health & Safety and licensing compliance.
• Work closely with Somerset House teams on maintenance, security and operations.

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years’ experience managing a busy, high-volume bar.
• Experience leading a team of 7+.
• Excellent attention to detail and a passion for quality.
• Strong understanding of stock, ordering and GP control.
• A hands-on, proactive leader who thrives under pressure.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A Personal Licence is essential.

Most importantly, you’ll bring energy, personality and pride to the bar, creating an experience guests will remember.

The Details

Location: Somerset House, London
Contract: Temporary, 8–10 weeks
Salary: £16 + per hour, dependent on experience
Reports to: General Manager
