Job Description

**Remote Project-Based Approximately 12-24 Hours/Week Initial 6-Month Engagement**

InnovaFlex is seeking an experienced High-Frequency Interconnect & Flex Circuit Design Engineer for a remote, independent contractor engagement supporting advanced semiconductor product development.

This opportunity may be an excellent fit for an experienced engineer seeking project-based consulting work or an advanced PhD candidate interested in applying their research and technical expertise to real-world high-frequency interconnect and flexible-circuit challenges.

The Opportunity

The contractor will work on defined projects involving the architecture, simulation, layout, characterization and validation of high-performance transmission lines, flexible circuits and signal-conditioning components.

Projects may include advanced microstrip and stripline routing, flex/cable geometries, GDS-level layout, electromagnetic simulation, signal-integrity analysis, prototype support and correlation of simulated and measured electrical performance. The engagement will support InnovaFlex product development, qualification and commercialization activities.

Engagement Details: This is a 100% remote, independent contractor engagement. We anticipate approximately 12-24 hours of project work per week, depending on project needs, for an initial period of approximately six months. There may be an opportunity to extend the engagement on a month-to-month basis based on business and project needs.

What You’ll Work On

Depending on the individual project, work may include:

•Designing and optimizing high-frequency microstrip, stripline, controlled-impedance and flexible interconnect structures.

•Developing and evaluating rigid-flex/FPC stack-ups, differential-pair routing and high-frequency planar components.

•Performing 2D/3D electromagnetic and circuit simulation using tools such as Ansys HFSS, CST, Keysight ADS, SIwave/Sigrity, SPICE or equivalent.

•Analyzing S-parameters, impedance, insertion loss, return loss and crosstalk.

•Developing GDS layouts and supporting design-rule verification.

•Correlating simulation results with VNA, TDR/TDT and other characterization data.

•Supporting prototype development, design iteration, qualification and root-cause analysis.

•Providing DFM recommendations and technical documentation supporting NPI and manufacturing readiness.

These responsibilities reflect the technical scope identified in the current position profile.

What We’re Looking For

We are interested in candidates who bring strong technical depth in electromagnetics, RF/microwave engineering, signal integrity, high-speed interconnects and/or flexible-circuit design.

Candidates may bring that expertise through either significant industry experience or advanced academic/research work.

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Applied Physics or a related technical discipline is appropriate for experienced industry candidates. Current PhD candidates or recent PhD graduates with directly relevant research, simulation and hands-on design experience are also encouraged to apply.

The strongest candidates will demonstrate expertise in several of the following areas: transmission-line theory, controlled-impedance design, high-frequency interconnects, rigid-flex/FPC design, electromagnetic simulation, S-parameter analysis, GDS layout, VNA/TDR/TDT characterization, simulation-to-measurement correlation, DFM and technical problem-solving.

Independent Contractor & Project Compensation

This opportunity is structured as an independent contractor engagement and is not an InnovaFlex employee position.

Work will be assigned through mutually agreed-upon projects or Statements of Work. For each project, InnovaFlex will identify the proposed scope, deliverables, requirements and timing. The contractor will have the opportunity to review the project and propose a project fee. Scope, deliverables, timing, acceptance criteria and compensation will be mutually agreed upon in writing before work begins.

The contractor will invoice InnovaFlex for agreed-upon project work in accordance with the applicable Independent Contractor Agreement and/or Statement of Work.

Because compensation is established individually for each project based on its scope and deliverables, there is no predetermined hourly, weekly or monthly compensation rate for this engagement.
